Woodland Joint Unified School District is accepting applications to fill the vacancy on its Board of Trustees for Trustee Area Five.
The vacancy, which was created by the resignation of elected Government Board Member Juan Muñoz, will be filled by a Provisional Appointee selected by the Board of Trustees through a process outlined in WJUSD Board Policy 9223.
Eligible community members with a strong interest in serving all of the students and families in WJUSD are encouraged to apply. Candidates should expect a moderate time commitment. Applicants must reside in Trustee Area Five, be a registered voter, and over 18 years of age. A map showing the boundaries for Area Five can be found under the “Board of Trustees” tab at www.wjusd.org. If you would like to confirm the Trustee Area number that is designated for your address, please call the Yolo Elections Office at 530-666-8133.
Deadline for applications is Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at 5 p.m. Applications are available on the homepage of the District Website, www.wjusd.org, under “News and Announcements” or under the “Board of Trustees” tab. Applications are also available in the Superintendent’s Office, located at 435 6th Street, Woodland, CA 95695. Completed applications can be mailed or delivered to the Superintendent’s Office, or submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications sent via mail must be received by the District Office by Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m.
Applicants have the option of a voluntary meeting with WJUSD Superintendent Maria Armstrong, Ed.D., to review information about the District and the role of Trustees, and answer questions. At the Feb. 9 Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees will interview the applicants during Open Session and take Board action to appoint a Provisional Appointee.
