WJUSD Board of Trustees Approve Hiring of Spring Lake Area School Principal

The Woodland Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees approved hiring Robyn Miller as the principal of the new elementary school in the Spring Lake area at its March 23 Board Meeting.

“We are looking forward to working with Robyn on planning for the new school and further engaging our community,” said Maria Armstrong, Ed.D., WJUSD Superintendent. “Robyn brings a lot of very relevant experience regarding language development and STEAM instruction.”

Miller has 15 years of experience working as a school principal in the Bay Area, the Central Valley, Colorado and Colombia, where she managed a sixth through eighth grade English/Spanish international school.  Miller is a nationally certified principal mentor and under her leadership, Taft Elementary School was recognized as a Gold Ribbon California Distinguished School.

“It’s so exciting to be a part of such an innovative, new school from the ground up,” said Miller. “It will be an amazing process to introduce our students and teachers to a STEAM school and methods that are cutting-edge.”

Miller will join the District in April and work directly with the new school’s program and facilities committees to prepare for the school’s opening at the beginning of the 2018-19 academic year. The new school in the Spring Lake area will provide a multilingual program via Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) curriculum.
