Teachers Focus on Strategies to Support English Learners

In March, 125 teachers concluded their fourth and final professional learning day of Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) training. QTEL offers WJUSD teachers professional development in techniques that engage and accelerate students’ academic literacy and content knowledge. 

Earlier in the month, elementary literacy teachers met and shared student work, as well as their experiences implementing strategies during English Language Arts lessons. 

Many of these participants will extend their learning over the next two months - either individually or in collaboration with their English Learner Specialist to develop and evaluate lesson plans. 

Thank you to all of the 125 teachers for participating in these trainings to enhance instruction and student achievement.
