Keeping Students Cool in Summer School

Woodland Joint Unified School District administrators are working with all summer school sites to monitor learning environments this week as the area experiences record-high temperatures.

“We want our summer school students to be able to focus on their learning, not the heat,” said Stacy Spector, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.

The District is currently:

  • Ensuring that water is available to students and staff
  • Modifying outside and physical education activities
  • Encouraging students to wear light clothing to school, while still following dress code
  • Monitoring all ventilation/air conditioning systems

The District will continue to collaborate with each school site and make changes as needed to ensure students and staff are as comfortable as possible.
