Computer Basics - Introduction

(19) Are you wondering what you can do with that new computer you just bought? Is your computer collecting dust in the corner? This class is designed for the student who wants to understand more about what real-life, practical things can be done with a computer. The class will explore applications, e-mail, Internet, problem-solving and more. This is a 5 week, 10 hour class.

Materials Fee: $10.00

Computers Made Simple

(19) Don?t let that computer collect dust anymore! This basic class will start with turning on the computer and then move to the following: operating systems, word processing, e-mail, Internet and search engines. Take the plunge and see that the computer can be fun. This is a 5 week, 10 hour class. (This class will be open to students under 50 years old on a space available basis for a fee of $20.00.  Class # 203501 & 203502)

Intermediate Computer

(19) This class will continue to explore applications, e-mail, digital cameras, scanning, Internet, Wordpad and basic features with Windows 98. This class has a prerequisite: students need to have completed Computer Basics - Introduction or have the approval of the instructor. This is a 5 week, 10 hour class.

Materials Fee: $10.00

Life History / Writing Your Life Story

This class is held at the Next Chapter Bookstore located at 622 Main Street. The school appreciates the generosity of the owners in offering the use of their inspirational facility for this class.

(20) "Every life, happy or tragic, famous or unknown, is extraordinary in its own way." (Patti Miller) Participants in this class come to write the stories of their own extraordinary lives and to share these stories with their families and friends. Sign up early and avoid being on the waiting list. This is a 10 week, 20 hour class. Classes start March 18th & 19th and end May 27th & 28th (no classes April 8th & 9th).  No fee.

Fine And Applied Arts - Music

Building an appreciation of music through the use of singing, listening and movement. Songbooks created by student requests are used in the sing-a-longs. Listening includes all musical periods and utilizes recorded music as well as live musicians and special groups. This is an on-going, continuous class. No fee.

Fine And Applied Arts - Piano Sing-Along

Appreciation of music is fostered through the use of music of a wide range of musical genres. A time for refreshing the elder student?s memories of sing-along songs popular in their earlier years. Brief, often unknown backgrounds of the songs are presented. Students will also participate in other activities designed to stimulate thinking and participation. This is an on-going, continuous class. No fee.

Physical Fitness For Seniors

Physical activities for posture improvement, muscle tone and coordination. This class is adapted for disabled and handicapped older adults. This is an on-going, continuous class. No fee.

Movement For Seniors

This class will allow seniors to build movement and flexibility through use of dynabands, light free weights and seated yoga poses. Class will be adapted to the ability of participants. This is a 1 hour, on-going, continuous class. Need not be a resident of Fair Plaza East to participate. No fee.

Mental Fitness

Body, Mind, Vim & Vigor

This course is designed to provide activities that will challenge and stimulate each student?s thinking. Students will participate in conversations related to presentations of selected biographies, videos, currently published articles and participation in mild physical exercises to stimulate the body-mind. This is an on-going, continuous class. No Fee.

Needle Art Fine and Applied Arts

Did you make a New Year?s resolution to do something for yourself or to finish unfinished stitchery projects? Please join us for great camaraderie while you finish your projects or try out something new! We do a lot of plastic needlepoint as well as embroidery, knitting and more. This is an on-going, continuous class.
