  3. Third priority shall go to other eligible three-year-old children, in income eligibility order.

  • Aligns activities with the California Department of Education Child Development Desired Results for Families and Children (DRDP).
  • Responds to and builds upon children's interests and ideas.
  • Provides opportunities for children to learn pre-literacy and numeracy skills.

The WJUSD California State Preschool Program is staffed with a Preschool Lead Teacher, a Preschool Instructor and a parent volunteer or assistant. All staff meets the state licensing requirements. All parent volunteers must have a TB clearance, vaccinations for measles, pertussis, flu (or waiver) and be fingerprinted, are under the supervision of the teachers. Adult/child ratios is one adult for every eight children as required by state guidelines.

We believe that parents are their children's first and most influential teachers and that the early years lay the foundation for children's success in school and life. The WJUSD California State Preschool Program supports parents by providing them with information to meet their educational and parenting needs. State Preschool Lead Teachers and other community organizations offer parent workshops throughout the year.
