COVID Guidance Update

March 21 , 2023

March 21 , 2023

Governor Newsom ended the COVID state of emergency on Feb. 28 and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced new COVID guidance effective March 13.

Please see the updated CDPH & Cal/OSHA recommendations below.

Updated CDPH Guidance:

  • A person who has tested positive is recommended to isolate at home for just five days rather than 10 — regardless of testing — as long as they’re feeling well, have improving symptoms and are fever-free for 24 hours.

For students:

  • It is recommended that after ending isolation, students may remove their mask within 10 days if they have two negative tests one day apart.

  • It is recommended that parents/guardians notify their school if students test positive for COVID.

For staff:

  • Cal/OSHA requires employees to remain masked until Day 11 regardless of a negative test on day 5 or later

  • Cal/OSHA requires employees to notify their immediate supervisor if they are positive for COVID and remain home.

  • Staff will still be notified when our District is made aware of a positive case on campus per CAL/OSHA.

We will continue providing families with COVID notifications when there is a positive COVID case on campus until the end of the school year. However, we will reassess these COVID notifications for next school year. As we continue adapting to updated guidance and recommendations, at some point we will transition away from the recommended COVID notifications to families when there is a positive COVID case on campus.

We will continue to provide at-home COVID tests to staff, students, and families at our schools in partnership with CDPH.
