Substitute teacher INFORMATION

Our substitute teachers are important partners in the education of our students. WJUSD invites substitute teachers who are interested in providing a continuum in our student's education and who value the safety of the students at all times. 
 
Eligibility Requirements:
All new candidates interested in substitute teaching in the Woodland Joint Unified School District must meet the following requirements:
  • Hold a teaching credential based on a degree and student teaching OR
  • Be eligible to apply for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit which has the minimum requirements of:
    • Must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher; and
    • Passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) or CSET Multiple Subject with Writing
    • Certificate of Clearance

Substitute Training/Professional Development (for current substitutes only)
WJUSD offers an online Substitute Training/Professional Development class.  If you are interested in taking the online Substitute Training/Professional Development class, please contact Abby Souza at Abby.souza@wjusd.org. You will be provided with an online coupon code and instructions via email. 

WJUSD allows substitutes to specify which subjects they are interested in covering, as well as which grade level(s), and school sites.

WJUSD offers a variety of classified substitute assignments. All classified substitute job openings will be posted on EdJoin. These includes, but are not limited to, clerical substitutes, substitute custodians, and substitute food service workers.
 
Once you have applied on EdJoin, and your application is accepted, you may be contacted for an interview.

sick leave for substitute employees

The Healthy Workplaces Healthy Families Act of 2014 provides paid sick leave to substitute employees, who on or after July 1, 2015 works for 30 days or more in a year (July 1-June 30). Eligible employees will accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every thirty hours worked through the course of the fiscal year.
 
To submit for Substitute Sick Leave please complete and submit this form. You will need the Frontline confirmation number or assignment to complete this form. The Substitute Sick Leave form needs to be completed before the last workday of the month.
