special education survey for families
In the fall of 2023, the WJUSD Board of Trustees directed staff to begin exploring an outside organization to review our special education programs to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
In the spring of 2024, we identified WestEd as the outside agency to conduct the review. WestEd began working with staff in late spring to conduct the district-initiated review.
The WestEd review will include collecting data through surveys, non-evaluative classroom observations, interviews, and focus groups with teachers, parents, itinerant staff, and administrators.
Their final report will include findings and recommendations for District leaders to help strengthen our programs and services.
Your feedback is essential to understanding how our special education programs are working and where we can improve. All responses are confidential and will go directly to WestEd. District staff will not have access to individual responses.
The information gathered from the survey will be combined with other data to provide an overall picture of the effectiveness of our District’s special education services.
The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete.
Your time and honest feedback are greatly appreciated as we work together to support all students.
We invite you to share your input by completing the survey for parents and guardians below:
Please take the time to complete one survey for each student you have who is receiving special education services from our District.
