Textbook Adoption Process

Board Policy 6161.1 outlines the process for selection of instructional materials. Briefly, the steps in the adoption cycle include:
  • Review of publisher materials by district teachers and staff, including at a publisher fair
  • Selection of a pilot committee
  • Pilot of materials, including feedback cycles for piloting teachers and students
  • Debrief and consensus of adoption recommendation
  • Public display of materials
  • Review and approval of adoption recommendation by the College and Career Articulation Team
  • Review and approval of adoption recommendation by the WJUSD Board of Trustees
