Board Policy 6161.1 outlines the process for selection of instructional materials. Briefly, the steps in the adoption cycle include:

Review of publisher materials by district teachers and staff, including at a publisher fair
Selection of a pilot committee
Pilot of materials, including feedback cycles for piloting teachers and students
Debrief and consensus of adoption recommendation
Public display of materials
Review and approval of adoption recommendation by the College and Career Articulation Team
Review and approval of adoption recommendation by the WJUSD Board of Trustees
