Safety Plans During Heat Advisory

Our plans to protect students and staff from the current heat wave include:

  • No outdoor activities after 10:30 a.m. (including recess and P.E.).
  • Cafeterias, gyms, and libraries will be open for students during lunch.
  • Any planned outdoor activities will be moved indoors or rescheduled (school events, sports, after-school programs, etc.).
  • Sports practices will be modified by start times and/or activity level. This may affect games and matches that have been scheduled.
  • Please look for communication from your student's coach regarding specific changes.
  • Air conditioners will be adjusted to accommodate our nighttime employees.
  • We have drinking fountains available and we highly encourage students and staff to bring a water bottle to help stay hydrated.

Please contact your school if you have specific questions regarding any activities or events that may be affected by these modifications.

We will continue monitoring the forecast for the duration of the heat advisory. Thank you and we appreciate your support.

Potential for Power Outages

During excessive weather conditions there is always the potential of power outages (storms, strong winds, fires, excessive heat, etc.).

In the event of a prolonged power outage at school, families will be notified through ParentSquare. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. We will do everything possible to keep schools open safely and work closely with local energy officials to assess and monitor the situation.

In rare cases, this could include closing school earlier in the day and families would be notified immediately.
