Risk Management

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all students, staff, and our community while supporting the District’s vision to providing "Excellence For All." It is our goal to minimize risks, maximize safety, apply the most effective use of resources, and maintain compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

WHAT WE DO:

Workers' Compensation Program
A safe working environment is our number one priority. Employees who are injured or become ill arising out of and in the course of their employment have rights to worker's compensation benefits under California law. An employee who sustained an industrial injury should immediately notify their direct supervisor and contact SIA Early Intervention Nurse Line at 1-877-742-3467, which performs telephonic triage of the injury and issues the initial treatment authorization if needed.

The main purpose is to assist employees who have been injured while at work and assuring they receive proper medical treatment, provide assistance with applicable workers' compensation benefits, and help to return the injured employee back to their regular job functions.

See our Workers' Compensation website for more information.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Management
We are committed to achieving full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you have a medical condition or disability as defined by federal and state law, you have the right to be free from discrimination on the basis of the condition/disability. The district maximizes opportunities for you to receive your disability rights which include the right to be reasonably accommodated and to participate in that decision-making process (i.e. the Interactive Process). Applicants, candidates or employees may request an ADA accommodation to our Risk Manager via email at faviola.bernal@wjusd.org or phone at 530-704-2343.

Mandated Training/Public Schools Work (PSW) Management

WJUSD requires all employees to participate in mandatory annual training to enhance their skills and knowledge needed to provide a safe learning environment for all our students. Public School Works provides online training in line with mandated requirements to help us stay in compliance. As employees who work in an education setting, we must provide the mandated trainings required by law, as well as for the safety of the students, families, and staff we serve.

To access your Public Works training use your district email credentials to log in - Public School Works website

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Help when YOU need it. Sometimes we can all use a little help healing with life's challenges. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential, professional support for personal and work concerns at no cost to you. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Employee Wellness Center
Staff wellness is an essential aspect of creating a healthy work environment. It is crucial to prioritize employees' well-being as it significantly impacts their productivity, job satisfaction, and overall quality of life. Our goal in prioritizing staff wellness is to create a happier and healthier workforce, which ultimately benefits both employees and our district.
